Client’s Profile

Our client (ACN 011 065 160) is a growing mining company registered on the Australian Securities Exchange - (ASX: PNA) - and a constituent of the S&P/ASX 200 Index. The Company has its headquarters in Brisbane and holds mineral assets in the Lao PDR and Thailand.

In Laos, our client operates the large Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation, which commenced production of copper-gold concentrate in April 2008. The Company produces gold from the Phu Kham Heap Leach Gold Operation which was brought into production in November 2005.

  • Permanent Position
  • Site-based in Laos at Ban Thouy
  • FIFO roster (Fly-in, Fly-out roster), completing a 14-days-on and 7-days-off roster, with flights provided to and return from place of hire
  • Work under the Logistics Department and directly report to Logistics Superintendent

Responsibilities:

1) Ensure corporate standard and policies are followed with respect to administration;

2) Ensure compliance with all statutory codes, acts and regulations from an accounting perspective;

3) Lead and motive support staff and plan their training to improve their performance and develop their skills;

4) Ensure that cost allocation and recharge processes are working correctly;

5) Ensure that agreed GL accounts are reconciled in accordance with agreed targets; and

6) Assist the Financial Accounting Superintendent in completing month end processing by the agreed deadlines

Details of the Job:

1. Accounts month end close preparation

1) Updating the Ramesys report to most current Pronto transactions

2) Inform all managers to review their costs

3) Follow up feedback from manager of department cost centers on accruals, adjustments, corrections

4) Review the reasonableness of the cost as compared to forecast

5) Recalculate the amortization of the prepaid insurance

6) Preparing the fleet cost charge out in line with standard cost defined and actual fleet operation time

7) Acquiring various physical data from Mining, Process and Maintenance Departments

8) Preparing the assay lab cost charge out based on number of samples

9) Preparing the electricity cost charge out to various cost centers

10) Maintaining account code, cost centers, categories, project code inside Pronto

11) Assisting other Pronto users to use, interpret the data, pull out certain data required (e.g. GL details)

12) Preparing allocations of manpower cost, based on number of manpower and salary band

13) Preparing various physical data and upload the data to Ramesys, e.g. electricity (Kwh), manpower, fuel usage etc.

14) Inform related cost center managers on any major unusual cost (as compared to forecast) e.g. ball mill usage, mining contractors, etc.

15) Follow up any variances as a result of the balance sheet items reconciliations

16) Find out the cause and clear out various suspense accounts in Pronto (‘ZZZZZZ’ accounts)

17) Ensuring only valid accounts data is uploaded to Ramesys, and make necessary corrections

18) Ensuring Ramesys data table is consistent with Pronto TB (P/L code only)

2. Supervising functions

1) Supervise the petty cash, review the petty cash register updating

2) Assisting the petty cash officer on the accuracy of the cost centers usage, and ensure petty cash authorization is in place

3) Witnessing the cash count on time to time, and cash spot check at month end, ensuring the accuracy of the balance

4) Witnessing the cash receipts from VTE office as well as other cash receipts from scrap sales, snack bar

5) Ensuring the payroll distribution time table is prepared, as well as the casual labor distribution

6) Ensuring the security of cash transport and distribution, coordinate with risk management

7) Supervise the account payable officer, ensuring all invoices are posted at month end, with proper authorization in place e.g. posting the signed off/goods received invoice, posting to ‘logged invoice’ section with sufficient back up

8) Supervise the account payable officer to ensure the major supplier’s statement is reconciled e.g. Metro CAT

9) Supervise the management accountant on raising journals and posting, ensuring proper authorizations is in place

3. Reconciliations

1) Preparing various balance sheet items reconciliations

2) Continuous improvement to the recs sheet, data acquiring, follow up and delegate to management accountant

4. Other

1) Continuous training / development in the Pronto software ie. AP, Inventory, Project Costing, GL in order to assist other users

2) Continuous training / development in the Ramesys software in order to assist other users

3) Accepting ad hoc work as assigned by Finance Superintendent or Commercial Manager

Qualification:

· Bachelor's Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or related fields

· At least 5-8 years of professional experience in management accounting and financial planning & analysis with a multinational company preferably in a manufacturing environment

· Possess some supervisory experience with good project management skills and sound business analytical skills

· Strong analytical, interpersonal and leadership skills

· Ability and willingness to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines

· Excellent command of both written and spoken English and computer literacy

· Experienced in business process and system development

· Able to relocate and work in Lao PDR
